How Do I Make a Bord Gais Top Up Online?
To make a Bord Gais top up online, there are two methods:
Online Bord Gais account
Online Payzone top up
Online Bord Gais Account
If you have a Bord Gais login account, you can top up through your online account.
To do so, simply:
Sign in to your account
Follow the prompts
Your meter will be automatically topped-up
You may be able to save your card details for future top-ups.
To make the top-up, you'll need the following information:
PAYG meter number
Email address
Credit or debit card details
Once topped up, you will receive a 20-digit Power Code by email to enter into your meter.
You also have the option to save your payment details to make future top-ups more convenient.
What Is My PAYG Meter Number?
This is the number on the front of your PAYG card and typically starts with the numbers 63669810 followed by your unique identifier number.
How Do I Make a Bord Gais Top Up By Phone?
You can top up your Bord Gáis Pay As You Go meter by phone by calling 01 611 01 08.
When you call, you'll need to provide the following information:
Your electricity account number or MPRN (Meter Point Reference Number) if you have an electricity meter.
Your Gas Card number or GPRN (Gas Point Reference Number) if you have a gas meter.
Your debit or credit card details to make the payment.
The Bord Gáis representative will guide you through the top-up process over the phone.
While some Bord Gáis Energy services like the gas and electricity emergency lines operate 24/7, the general customer service and top-up phone lines have specific operating hours.
The general Bord Gáis customer service line, which includes the top-up service, is typically open:
Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
Sunday: Closed
If you need to top up outside these times, you will need to use one of the online methods or visit a Payzone outlet during their opening hours.
How Do I Make a Bord Gais Top Up at a Payzone Outlet?
You can make a Bord Gais top up using your prepayment card at any Payzone outlet. This card would have been sent to you when you signed up for the tariff.
Alternatively, you can use your PAN ID, a 16-digit reference number that you can find in your order confirmation or in your online account. It typically starts with, 275000 followed by your account number.
When you purchase credit at a Payzone outlet, make sure to keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
The minimum top-up amount is €10, and the maximum is €100.
Electricity Pay As You Go Meters
Once you've purchased credit online or via phone, you'll receive a Power Code.
To add this credit to your meter:
Press the * button on your meter keypad. The display should show "KEYCODE".
Enter the 20-digit Power Code
Once you've entered all the numbers, press the # button.
If you make a mistake, press the * button to erase the last digit.
Gas Pay As You Go Meters
You need to purchase credit at any Payzone outlet using your Gas Card.
Insert your Gas Card into the card slot on the meter, ensuring the gold-colored chip faces the meter display.
The display will show the credit value on the card.
Press the red Button A to transfer the credit to the meter. Any outstanding debt will be deducted at this point.
If the gas supply is off ("OFF" is displayed), check that all your appliances are turned off for safety. Then, press and hold Button A until the display changes and indicates "ON".
Remove the Gas Card once the credit has been transferred. Keep the card in a safe place.
PAYG Emergency Credit
When your credit runs low, you will hear an alarm. If you press the "0" button on your meter, you will be supplied with the €20 emergency credit. When you next top up, the full €20 emergency credit used will be deducted from your top-up amount, along with any other outstanding charges.
Does Bord Gais Top Up Have Friendly Credit?
Friendly credit is a feature offered by Bord Gáis specifically for electricity PAYG customers with a smart meter.
It's designed to ensure you're not left without power during times when it might be difficult to top up, and you have already used your emergency credit
Customers can avail of friendly credit during the following times:
Monday to Thursday: 16:00–09:00 (17:00–10:00 during summer)
