Selectra was created in 2007 by founders Aurian de Maupeou and Xavier Pinon with the initial aim of helping French customers save on their electricity and gas bills following the deregulation of the French gas and electricity markets. Selectra has since expanded and is now in more than 16 countries. Selectra Ireland first opened in 2019 to help the Irish sign up for home energy and broadband deals.
Here at Selectra, we help consumers streamline the process of switching by providing a one-stop solution for those who are interested in changing their energy or broadband providers. Understanding your options regarding energy, broadband, and waste can be a challenge, but we are here to help by offering impartial, personalised advice to help you make the best choice. To do so, we work with several Irish partners who offer competitive and customized packages designed to suit your needs and save you money without having to sacrifice customer service.
Selectra's service is free to use for customers because we receive a commission from our affiliates and partner providers for connecting them with new customers. This commission value is not added onto customer packages or otherwise charged for by either Selectra or our partners. Customers can visit the Selectra IE website and call our Energy and Broadband teams or affiliate partnerships without charge. Any commission we receive does not influence the recommendations Selectra provides its customers.
Selectra does not work with all providers and retailers on the market. We switch you to a selected panel of providers and products based on their values to customers, the quality of their service and competitiveness of their pricing. Changing providers can take up to 28 days for both energy and broadband providers. If you are in debt with your provider, this process may take longer. Remember to cancel any standing direct debits set up with your previous provider after receiving your final bill.
Yes. We switch you unless your rental agreement specifically states that you must remain with a single specified provider, otherwise, you have the freedom to choose between companies. If an installation or structural change is required, it is recommended to check with your landlord/landlady/rental agency in advance of the change.
