Who Is Regional Broadband Ireland?
Regional Broadband Ireland is one of a growing number of rural broadband specialists such as Rural WiFi and Rural Broadband who are focused on making sure that the areas of Ireland that have been traditionally deprived of strong broadband connections, can access the modern and fast services that they need. Much of this is in conjunction with National Broadband Ireland (NBI)'s plan to roll out rural broadband.
Rural Broadbands offers come in various forms, with both fixed-line and wireless broadband options, combined with the ability to add a landline connection, or even having broadband without a landline. These options are available to both residential and business customers.

What Types of Broadband Do Regional Broadband Ireland Offer?
Regional broadband currently offers its services in one of two forms: fibre or fixed wireless broadband. Each of these types has very different capabilities and can vary in their appropriateness depending on your property's scenario.
Fibre is the fastest type of broadband, with speeds ranging from an average of 100 Mbps for part-fibre connections (FTTC or Fibre To The Cabinet), all the way up to a potential 2 Gbps for full fibre (FTTP/H or Fiber To The Property/Home). To get these services, a fibre optic cable must be installed connecting the network distributor either directly to your home, or to a street cabinet.
What is WTTX?Typically, fixed wireless broadband (also known as WTTX or Wireless To The X) refers to systems that pick up 4G and 5G signals, much like your mobile phone, and then reemits these signals as a WiFi signal, known as mobile broadband. This makes them ideally suited for rural locations that cannot access traditional fixed-line networks, but unfortunately aren't as fast as fibre, with average speeds in the region of 100 to 200 Mbps and are an alternative to satellite broadband.
What Are the Regional Broadband Plans?
Regional Broadband plans vary from region to region since not everywhere has the same infrastructure and so makes it difficult for them to get to you. In general, both their Fixed Wireless Pro packages will be available to you, but whether you can get Regional Fibre 1000 or Regional 100 / 12 (approaching SIRO speeds) will depend on where you live. Here's an overview of all the Regional Broadband plans:
Plan Name | Monthly Price | Speed up to | Limitations | Contract Length |
---|---|---|---|---|
Fixed Wireless Pro 12 | €59.90 | 200 Mbps | Unlimited | 12 Months |
Fixed Wireless Pro 24 | €55 | 200 Mbps | Unlimited | 24 Months |
Regional Fibre 1000 | €34.99 for 3 months, then €59.99 | 1 Gbps | Unlimited | 12 Months |
Regional Fibre 100 / 12 | €30.99 per month for 3 months, €55.99 per month thereafter | 1 Gbps | Unlimited | 12 Months |

What Are the Regional Broadband Reviews?
Regional Broadband doesn't score as high as some other providers, with a current 2.8 out of 5 score from on Trustpilot from 3 reviews. While this score may not seem that great, most broadband providers rank between 1.5 and 2.5 out of 5 on review sites, so Rural Broadband's average score is a good indicator.
Reviewers often praise the fast speeds and positive customer service experiences. On the negative side, a common theme also appears to be varying levels of reliability and weekend closures leaving customers in the lurch if their broadband goes down.
