Who Is Pure Telecom?

image of a magnifying glass inspecting a document

Pure Telecom is an Irish telecommunications specialist focusing on broadband, landline, and TV services. Founded in 2002, and having well over 55,000 customers, in their 20 years of service to the Irish public they have become well-known for their customer service values, and competitive pricing.

While their primary product is broadband, they have in recent years taken the bold move of introducing a TV service, entering into direct competition with more established providers such as Sky and Virgin Media. Through their partnership with Netgem TV, Pure Telecom are not only able to provide a quality product but also do so while charging competitive prices, as we will get into shortly.

What Is Netgem TV?

Netgem is a stand-alone home entertainment provider. The Netgem-TV box allows its users to view Freeview channels, along with additional channels accessible through your home's antenna. An additional perk is that the Netgem-TV box also has access to many streaming services and additional apps, such as Amazon Prime, Rakuten and almost anything on TV guides!.

Netgem TV can be purchased directly through Netgem as a subscription service, but they also have several partnerships with telecommunication companies such as Pure Telecom, which enables them to offer bundled services at a discount. You can also compare different TV packages with Pure TV.

Is There a Pure Telecom TV App?

Yes! Pure Telecom is well aware that many of us still want our entertainment fix when we are away from the TV. For this reason, they have developed the PureTV app. This application is available on both the Google Play and Apple App stores and provides the following facilities, to name but a few:

image of a mobile
  • Watch live TV from your mobile or tablet
  • Cast to a TV with Pure TV or Chromecast
  • Access the TV guide
  • Browse and view on-demand and catchup TV
  • Use the virtual remote to control your TV

This app can of course also be used with compatible tablet devices. A small draw-back is that Pure Telecom has yet to release a browser application, but with the ability to cast Pure TV from your phone onto any compatible TV via Chromecast, there are still plenty of viewing options available.

How Much Does Pure TV Cost?

image of money

Onto the important part, the price. Whereas most providers provide a series of pricing plans on their website indicating the availability of certain products, bundles, and their costs, unfortunately, Pure Telecom doesn’t publish comprehensive pricing details on their website. Instead, they encourage customers to get in touch with their customer service team to discuss specific requirements, availability, products, and plans.

What details are available on the website related to Pure Telecom TV pricing and packaging, however, are the following:

  • Pure TV Stand-Alone Service - €20 Per Month
  • Pure TV & Broadband - €10 Per Month (Excluding broadband cost)

If you are interested in combining both broadband, landline, and Pure TV, a single premium package is currently available.

Yes. As with most service providers, your devices are loaned to you for the duration of your contract. If your broadband and TV contract is cancelled, you will have to return your device to the address specified within your terms and conditions documentation.

How can I cancel my Pure Telecom packages?

Cancellations can be made without penalty within the cooling-off period. If you cancel after this time, you may be liable to pay an early cancellation charge of €150. In order to cancel your contract, you can contact the Customer Care Phone number, email [email protected], or write to their postal address (found on our Pure Telecom contact guide page).

How good is Pure Telecom?

As with everything, the opinion and experiences of the public will differ. Currently, Pure Telecom has been rated at 4 out of 5 on Trustpilot by the public which is a really great score! However, review sites should be taken with a pinch of salt, however, as review websites are typically used as a complaints medium, and as such most companies tend to rate at an average score. Check out our broadband reviews guide to see who the best broadband providers are.
