How Much Is the Energia Gas Boiler Service in 2025?
As of January 2025, the Energia gas boiler service costs €120 and includes a 28-point check service to ensure that your boiler is working efficiently and safely.
This is a once-off charge and is not part of a larger, subscription gas boiler service that offers year-round coverage. The Energia gas boiler service is carried out by RGII registered gas installers in compliance with Irish Standard and current Health & Safety regulations.
You can purchase your Energia gas boiler service through the Energia Smart Home Store whereupon a successful purchase, you will be contacted by a member of the home service team to arrange everything.
Limited Gas Boiler Service & Eligibility
Unfortunately, Energia only services the Leinster and Cork areas. Please note that this service is for functional boilers only; if your boiler is broken, an engineer will not be able to service it and a €30 call-out fee may apply.
Before your engineer arrives, there are a few simple DIY checks you can perform to ensure your heating system is prepared for the colder months.
Taking these steps can often prevent common winter breakdowns:
Check Your System Pressure: Look at the pressure gauge on your boiler. It should typically sit between 1 and 1.5 bar when the system is cold.
Thaw Frozen Condensate Pipes: In sub-zero temperatures, the external plastic pipe can freeze, causing the boiler to shut down. Pouring warm (not boiling) water over the pipe can often resolve this.
Bleed Your Radiators: If radiators are cold at the top, use a radiator key to release trapped air. This ensures the engineer can accurately assess your boiler's efficiency.

What Does an Energia Gas Boiler Service Include?
Energia's gas boiler service is designed to be thorough, addressing all critical aspects of your boiler. While specific details may vary slightly, a typical Energia service offers a comprehensive 28-point check, generally including:
Visual Inspection: Checking for signs of damage, corrosion, leaks, and ensuring the boiler's location is compliant with safety regulations.
Operational Checks: The engineer will fire up the boiler to observe ignition, flame picture, and overall performance.
Flue and Ventilation Assessment: Proper ventilation and a clear flue are essential. The service ensures no blockages are preventing the safe expulsion of combustion gases.
Gas Pressure and Flow Rate Checks: Testing gas pressure at the meter and boiler to ensure it meets manufacturer specifications.
Component Cleaning: Key internal components, such as the heat exchanger and burners, will be cleaned to remove soot.
Safety Device Testing: Testing pressure relief valves and temperature limiters to ensure they function correctly.
Soundness Test: A tightness test on gas pipework to detect any leaks.
Combustion Performance Analysis: Analysing flue gases to ensure the boiler isn't producing dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.
Documentation: Upon completion, the engineer provides a service report/certificate (Declaration of Conformance) for your records.
Warranty Compliance
If you have a modern boiler from brands like Worcester Bosch, Ideal, or Baxi, your manufacturer warranty is usually conditional. To keep it valid, you must have the boiler serviced annually by an RGI-certified engineer.
Booking an Energia service ensures you have the proof required to avoid expensive repair costs in the future.
