All properties in Ireland that have a connection to the national grid are connected through the ESB Networks. ESB Networks essentially manages the electricity infrastructure across the Republic and is partially owned by the government. After you’ve applied for the connection, a technician will come round and soon you’ll be connected to the grid.&;

If you are building a new property, you will need to arrange for a new electricity connection to be installed. This will involve working with ESB Networks to determine the best location for the connection and to ensure that the necessary infrastructure is in place. - Self-Built

How Do I Apply for a New Connection?
When applying for a new connection, it is important to provide ESB Networks with all the necessary information. This includes your name, address, contact details, and the type of connection you require. It is also important to be aware of any additional costs that may be incurred. Additionally, you should be aware of any applicable terms and conditions that may apply to your new connection. Here are the steps for getting an ESB new connection all set up:
- Submit the Application Form
You will need to register for an ESB connection login to get started with your new connection. After you've registered, you'll need to fill in the application form including your address as well as a site map of where you want the connection. - Get a Quote
You'll then receive a pre-visit quote from ESB networks. If you have a smaller property you'll usually receive this within 7 working days however it can take up to 2 weeks for larger connections. - Sign the Connection Agreement
You'll then need to sign the connection agreement and you'll need to pay for the new connection up front. - Work Through Design Stage
With the design stage, an engineer will help you out with planning for your new connection. You'll also need to work through any planning permission issues before the work can start. - Connection Works
You'll then be able to have the work down for your new connection. This can usually take up to 6 weeks depending on how big the new connection is. - Service Goes Live
After the work is completed, you'll need to wait for all the certifications to go through so you are able to get sorted with a new supplier. After this, you'll be all up and running with your new electricity connection.
Is There an ESB New Connection Login?

If you're applying for an electricity connection, it's unlikely you'll have an MPRN. If this is the case, you can add your MRPN later after creating your account.

You'll then receive a confirmation email with all the details about your new connection. After that, you'll be able to log in to your account and start using the ESB New Connections website.
