Many reviewers have noted the politeness of the agents on the phones and how easily their issues were dealt with.

Spoke to stephen pre pay gas and he was so lovely and kind and helped me sort out my meter. Iv been with electric ireland a long time. Anytime i spoke to someone they have always been kind. Lovely staff.

Some reviewers commented on how well Electric Ireland treats long-standing customers, in particular the Electric Ireland rewards team, when it came to smart meter readings.

Been with Electric Ireland for over 2 years now and never had a trouble. Once first year passed their rewards team got in touch to set a better contract and get more benefits. Have a smart meter so no worries when it comes to accuracy and for gas account i just submit the read through the app. Customer service is hit and miss, the same as if you go to any shop, but if you follow up few times issue gets resolved so thats the main thing. Comfortable here and not planning on changing supplier.

What About Electric Ireland Complaints on Trustpilot?

Despite these positive reviews, there are a number of customers who do not share the same experience when it comes to Electric Ireland. 

Some, for example, are frustrated with how they are being billed and the subsequent lack of customer service in dealing with the issue.

They slapped me with a bill on the 4th of April, due for payment on the 4th of April (it's normally two weeks after the bill issue date) and added overdue fees onto my account. I emailed them on the 4th of April about it, got an automatic response that it takes five days to get an email back.... Today is the first of May. Horrible greedy thieving company.

However, the most significant complaints do tend to come from customer service related issues such as waiting times and getting through to solve their problems:

Cannot believe how incompetent, rude and just the blatant disregarding of the customer experience. THEIR checks of tne meters were wrong and now I have to pay for them, moved to prepay they’re just incredible. Incompetent electric Ireland is they should be ashamed.

Similar to the Trustpilot reviews, many of the Google reviewers have found the customer service good, and they’ve had their problems solved quickly once they contacted Electric Ireland

Fantastic customer service! I had a small problem and contacted them twice recently online - on webchat and on twitter and on both occasions my issues were resolved right there and then, unlike my previous supplier where it was almost impossible to get through. Very happy so far!

There have also been reviews about Electric Ireland promptly finding solutions to account issues.

They made a blunder by withdrawing money from my Bank account too early, and I was charged 10 euro fee on my bank for failed direct debit. I called to complain. They said they will listen to the recording, and if what I say is true, they will refund me the money. They did exactly as they said, called me back straight away and also gave me little extras for inconvenience caused. Super company. Highly recommend to friends and family.

Didn't even receive my first bill and I already want to change. Just to set up the online account seems like rocket science to them. I have an absolute pain In my face calling emailing and chatting online and they still can't solve a simple problem.

There have also been complaints about billing where customers feel they are being overcharged:

At the start my bills were manageable. I switched because I was getting charged €300 in summertime for a 1 bedroom apartment by SSE Airtricity. When I switched to electric Ireland my bills dropped drastically to around €150 when I was a new customer. Now they have the audacity to charge me €500 for a 1 bed room aparment. I do not believe I have consumed that much electricity. It doesn’t make sense.

How Good Is the Electric Ireland App?

The majority of reviews tend to be negative, with many customers complaining about how limited the app is and how certain features don't work.

Whats the point of this app? You can’t view insights, can’t view usage, modify account details. You also can’t view available/alternate plans? Probably due to not offering any decent discounts to existing customers, only new customers can get the full discounted price. AVOID THIS APP! AVOID THIS COMPANY!
